True! The presidency is not a person but by committee, a cabal that includes Wall Street, Big Oil, pharmaceuticals, and lobbyists for special interests ranging from Silicon Valley tech companies to countries like Israel. Big picture, I am not a Democrat but more of an anarchist, or closest to a Democratic Socialist. I am so put off by this system ~ with Supreme Court rulings that corporations are people, corporations can fund political campaigns and a corrupt former president a”king,” as well as the rigged, slave-era electoral college— that I do not vote. But I urge everyone who still has faith in The United States of America (I live outside) and votes, to vote Democrat. Hopefully, one day we will be able to elect progressives, like AOC, Jamaal Bowman, Ilhan Omar, etc., who really want and represent change. That one day the DNC, at the urgency of Wall Street, will not thwart progressive change like it did Bernie Sanders. Harris is more of the same as Biden. With Harris, our tax dollars and weapons will continue going to fight Palestinians and to destroy so U. S. contractors can rebuild Ukraine. But that is way better than what was under Trump in 2016-20 and what would be if he is elected again.
You have not written anything! The cognitive dissonance is yours. I would hardly vote for Harris, or Biden, unless the alternative is Trump. A straight-up racist, megalomaniacal opportunist who uses gullible peoples' miss take on religion to his advantage. A Bible-holder who never goes to church. Supposedly anti-abortion, but how many has the admitted womanizer funded? The Democrats are far from perfect, but only a fool cannot see Republicans are far worse. Every time there is a Republican in the White House, there is a recession and massive national debt that a Democrat has to come behind and alleviate. With Republicans in power, the hate index increases dramatically. Along with guns, assault weapons, white militia, police terrorism and mass shootings. Along with taxes on the poor and middle class -- but not the rich! And, jobs decrease, along with the quality of life. Corporations are allowed to go unregulated and dominate society, poisoning us with processed foods and destroying the environment with waste, in literal fascist rule. And poor people die for lack of health care. How many lives were lost because Trump said Covid-19 was fleeting, and rather than acting promptly, advised us to drink disinfectant? Remember how a phase of the race war was fought, with Trump supporters refusing to wear masks so the virus would spread and more African Americans with pre-existing conditions would die? How many of our children and grandchildren will be traumatized by his and Republican's blanket denial of climate change -- even as we see and feel it in weather extremes? "You wrote a brash but nothing-comment, and Menecia is far wiser than she lets on in this post. Think, Social Security. Think forgiving student debt. Think removing corruption and right-wing ideology from the Supreme Court. Think about the greater good. Think about what God would do, and realize we are the doers. The Peacemakers, The Unifiers. We need to think for ourselves, connect to the divine spirit of love and universality within, and always do the right thing. We vote every moment of life, in all our interactions, words and deeds; in what we choose to buy, how we treat others, especially strangers -- and even animals and the environment.
It is personal, and societal. The impetus is to avoid another Trump term, with its pro-big-business/pro-rich tax cuts, jobs reduction, economic recession and racial stratification. It is about preventing Project 2025. Saving Social Security. Protecting Voter Rights. Allowing women to make their own decisions about their bodies. Forgiving student loans. Being able to teach African-American history in schools. Freedom of speech and the right to protest. Police reform. Stopping the proliferation of guns, especially assault weapons. And on, and on and on. Mainly to stop Trump and the far right, white supremacy he represents. Think of the lives, many African American, lost because Trump did not take seriously Covid 19 and instead advised us to drink disinfectant. And, what his blanket denial of climate change means for future generations.
